Apropos to application status you try to check it here . It houses the details of the application status off GATE all aspirants.

Even i did not get the acknowledgement card till now. My concerned zone is IISC bangalore. But when checked at the above mentioned URL against my reference no, i came to know that my application form was received by IISc. :)
